The Anton Kern Gallery moved into its Midtown space in 2017 in a six-story townhouse that used to be one of the first boutique hairdressers in New York. The gallery has used its three floors of exhibition space in the building to build on its reputation as one of the most cutting-edge voices in the contemporary art world. Kern, who represents artists such as Nicole Eisenman and Jonas Wood, first founded his gallery in 1996, and has since opened up a separate 24/7 viewing space in lower Manhattan called WINDOW, which has hosted artworks from John Bock and David Shrigley, as well as Lothar Hempel and most recently Andrew Sim.
