A charity that feeds hungry New Yorkers earns high marks. For over 25 years City Harvest has served as a bridge between the food industry in the city and countless other organizations, foundations and corporations to help feed citizens who need meal support. City Harvest works to end hunger across the five boroughs by rescuing and distributing excess food, as well as out-reach education. An impressive legacy at City Harvest accounts for helping to feed over 300,000 people every week. They say they rescue over 83,000 pounds of food per week. The awesome effort is credited for providing food to 600 community programs. A mission to save food that would otherwise be thrown out and give it free to New Yorkers is hard to beat.
